Description
Atrial flutter is an arrhythmia caused bby an extra electrical pathway between the anterior and posterior internodal tracts. Dr. Stacy Fisher at JHU treats patients with an atrial flutter by ablating the extra electrical pathway. This model is printed for her office so she can explain the anatomy to her patients and show them where the ablation will occur.
Research
I made a rough model in ZBrush and checked in with the surgeon. Together, we determined the most useful cut and the anatomy she wanted to show to her patients.
Model with the supports and base.
Finishing the model
Once the model was finished and painted, we moved onto preparing it for print. We cut the greater vessels to make an even base, added supports, and a custom base for the heart to rest on, as well as cutting the model in half so Dr. Fisher could open the heart to show the patients.
