Daily Cinema4D – Fake CT/Sliced Images
Simple texture/rendering challenge today! I had a ton of fun plugging in random objects into this scene set-up to get this faux CT looking effect.
The items, in order of video appearance, are:
1) My dog’s dental CT, segmented into enamel, bone, and soft tissue
2) A Lynx skull, downloaded from Biodiversity sketchfab
3) A brain from the default Slicer3D datasets
4) The heart I modelled for the atrial flutter project
5) Axial, then sagittal section of a mouse jaw (MicroCT from my friend Wires)
6) Radar dish from my friend Hill
The effect is built by only showing the clipping between the object I wanted to slice and a plane. I turned off the main object’s visibility with the RS Object tag.
I was able to control the “density” of the object with different materials, like in the render of my dog’s skull.
I’m not quite sure where this render trick will come in handy, but it certainly provides a cool effect. Perhaps the option to have different materials and looks will be useful for some editoral illustration down the line?
